The North-eastern part of India comprising eight states is characterised by its ethnic, linguistic, literary and cultural diversity. The poets of the region who write in English mostly hail from multifarious ethnic groups. Their poetry is rich in dilating the aspects of the ecology, myths, rituals, mysteries, mysterious faiths and demographic traits. The region as an anthropological museum, with its citizens and denizens having a deep sense of socio-cultural alienation from the mainstream of Indian culture, has developed a stern desire of belongingness to the best of it.
