The Chakras & Esoteric Healing

Zachary F. Lansdowne (Author)
Synopsis In traditional Yoga philosophy, the chakras are subtle force centers that vitalize and control the physical body. The Sanskrit work chakra means "wheel," indicating that these force centers are wheels of energies. Many healers today are working with the chakras-subtle force centers that vitalize and control the physical body. The book explains how various experiences in human consciousness and esoteric healing occur, in terms of the chakras and other aspects of a person's inner constitution. It reviews and intergrates the writings of several authors having a theosophical perspective. While none of these authors gives a complete and unified picture of the entire subject matter, such a picture is presented by synthesizing the individual contributions. It briefly defines certain terms and relationships regarding the inner constition of a human being; presents background material on the chakras, including their functions, locations, and relationships with endocrine glands; considers various aspects of consciousness, including meditation, self-hypnosis, spiritual development, and psychic opening; examines pranic, telepathic and readiatory healing. Also included are five appendices providing interpretations, in terms of the chakras of previously published symbolic formulas that heretofore have never been fully explained. A comprehensive set of notes which identifies the sources for the various ideas and statements is included. These notes will enable the reader to investigate any aspect of the subject matter that is of special interest.
