The salient feature of the book is that the work is based on actual study of the specimens and all the illustrations have been made from the life plants by the author.

About the author

Iswar Chandra Barua

Dr. Iswar Chandra Barua, the author of the book, is a Senior Scientist in the Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam.  Borne at Guwahati in 1960, he had his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Botany (Angiosperm Taxonomy) from Gauhati University, Guwahati, Assam, under the guidance of the Plant Taxonomist Professor Dr. S. Chowdhury and famous Orchidologist of the country Dr. S.K. Kataki.  He has to his credit over 25 research papers and a book on Seed Technology.  Dr. Barua has devoting his research, teaching and extension activities basically in Plant Taxonomy, Phytogeography, Ecology and Crop Environment, Weed Biology and Management, Ethnobotany and Biodiversity Conservation.  He is a bare footed plant explorer and member of many scientific associations.
