Synopsis This book on Orchid Flora of Kamrup District of Assam has explored the orchid species of three major districts of the state of Assam in its present political form namely Barpeta, Nalbari and Kamrup districts of the lower Brahmaputra valley including the famous Manas Wild Life Sanctuary. It has dilated the subject in two major aspects as the morphological and phenological characteristics of the taxa and the key characters with illustrations as well as photographs for their easy recognisation and secondly the distribution, phytogeography and ethnobotany of orchids of the district with a general morphology for easy understanding of the complex floral structure of the family orchidaceae. This work the author feels would be very helpful not only for the taxonomists, but equally for horiculturists, forest officials, phytogeographers and other orchid lovers. The salient feature of the book is that the work is based on actual study of the specimens and all the illustrations have been made from the life plants by the author.
