Corporate Social Development: A Paradigm Shift

Debasis Bhattacharya (Author)
Synopsis This book is a broad canvas of contemporary situation on corporate social development giving a flavour of present debate on 'corporate as an important stakeholder in civil society' for sustainable development.  It makes an in-depth study of the paradigm shift in corporate participation in social development in India, with special emphasis on its merits and demerits - a complete description about the changing pattern of funding for social development in the country.  Based on case studies from Corporates and NGOs, it makes a detailed analytical assessment of the changing social development project, viz. programmes vis-à-vis beneficiaries, and suggests alternative strategies for their funding.  It reflects on why the holistic concept of growth needs to be aligned with the objectives of an Industry as its primary role of creating value for shareholders.  The book, is the first of its kind in India, will be of great use to the policy makers, researchers, corporates, NGOs, students of management and social work in India and abroad.
