B.J. Bhandutia, (birth, Sept., 10, 1934).  Born and brought up at Bombay, Dr. Bhandutia earned his B.A. (Eco.) from Siddharth College Bombay; M.A. (Eco.) from Department of Economics, Bombay, in 1958.  However, he earned his Ph.D. degree in Economics from Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, in 1973.  His Ph.D. Guide was Dr. V.S. Vyas, the then Director of The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.  He joined Govt. of Gujarat as class-II gazetted officer in 1960.  But as the bureaucracy did not suit his temperament, he switched over to academics. In 1964 he joined as Lecturer of Economics, in Arts and Commerce College, Valsad.  In 1970 he was selected as lecturer by The South Gujarat University, Surat, where he served as Lecturer of Economics in the Department of Rural Studies, SGU.  Having earned his Ph.D., in 1973 he came back to Valsad and joined as principal of the newly started Shah N.H. Commerce College. Right from the day go, he nurtured and developed the College for a period of 21 years, when he retired gracefully in the year 1994.    His health wanted him to work further. So after retirement he joined Bhartiya Janta Party as a Political Worker.  On 25.9.1997 be became president of BJP Valsad City and on 1.5.2000 he was entrusted the responsibility of president Valsad District, by the Party. At present he is Director (Local Board Member) of State Bank of India, Ahmedabad.His daughter Dr. Megha, having done her M.D.P.S.M., serves HealthDepartment of Government of Gujarat.  His eldest son Nayanesh is serving U.N.O. (United Nations Organisation) New York, U.S.A. as Systems Administration Manager, MIS Branch, UNFPA and his younger son Kinnar (B.E. Chem.), runs an engineering Industry, Manufacturing Scaffolding and Shuttering at Valsad. He belongs to Mochi (Cobbler) Community and has devoted his life for the advancement of his caste, having served Shri Surat Valsad Jilla Kshatriya Mochi Gyanti Parishad as President for 13 years, currently he is working as President of Gujarat Rajya Mochi Gyanti Sangh (GRAMS).
