The term 'feminism' has its origin from the Latin word 'femina' meaning 'woman' (through French 'feminism') and thereby refers to the advocacy of women's rights, status and power at par with men on the grounds of equality of sexes. Tony Morrison, the black American Feminist writes, won the Pulitzer Frize for her fiction "Beloved". Indian Feminist writer, journalist, 'Shobha De' gave new definition to the mass market bestseller with her writing in the 1990s. Elain Showalter is a noted American Feminist critic. The issue of male involvement in feminist studies is negatively referred to by Showalter as "Critical cross-dressing". It is hoped that this book will be of good use for students, researchers, teachers and the lovers of feminism and feminist female writers.
