Synopsis
This book attempts to lay bare the areas of new security threat to India and its plans and strategy to cope those threats. While doing so, it will also explain and analyse the areas of continuity and change. New dimensions of India's National Security that emerged in the 1990's and the evolving challenges and opportunities as they unfolded immediately after the end of the Cold War has been give special attention with the focus of the study. India's security, like that of other states', after the Cold War has elements of the past. However, new challenges and opportunities have emerged with serious implications for India's national security. For examples, Nuclear India has substantially different military capacity against the enemy national state but it is unable to find concrete solution to increasing Naxal militancy in the rural side and frequent terrorist attacks on civil population and civilian establishment in urban areas.
