Reading Gandhi

Surjit Kaur Jolly (Editor)
Synopsis Neither Capitalism nor Marxism has been able to solve human problems arising out of liberalization, privatization and globalization. The whole world is in search of an alternative. The Gandhian alternative can provide solutions to contemporary problems such as unemployment, unequal distribution of wealth, violation of human rights, terrorism and poverty, if implemented in totality. Gandhian alternative in various forms is echoed in contemporary debates not just in India but also throughout the world. In this present endeavour an attempt has been made to re-interpret and relocate Gandhi and his thought. This volume seeks to provide a new insight to the readers for understanding Gandhian thought and its relevance in the contemporary world. Special care has been taken to cater to the need of the newly introduced paper Reading Gandhi. A useful book for researchers, policy makers and students of Delhi University who have opted for the Reading Gandhi paper at the Graduate level.
