Synopsis It is common knowledge that the contributions made in the field of Buddhist studies in the past by Russian scholars, like Fyodor Stcherbatsky and Sergel Oldenburg, received due recognition among Orientalists all over the world. But has anything more been done in Russia since the first decades of this century? The answer could be found in the book which introduces some of the Russian scholars presently engaged in research on the history of Indian philosophy. This book comprises articles and chapters collected from monographs published in Russia during the last ten years. Though the contributors belong to different generations with varying subject interests and viewpoints, all of them are dedicated to Indological studies which are not only the subject of their research but also the cause of their entire life.
