Phanikanta Mishra

Dr. Phani Kant Mishra the Chief Editor of this volume is an epitome of versatility. Moving on from Ph.D. in Hoysala Art and Architecture his intense research produced two books – The Kadambas, and The Hoysalas – in quick succession. Besides being the Chief Editor of two commemorative volume he has many papers, including several on conservation to his credit. Though very young his scientific knowledge and enthusiasm for conservation has enabled him to travel over all over India and direct conservation of various types of monuments. In the past, he has visited the Federal Republic of Germany under Indo-German Exchange Programme, by carl duisbrg gesellsehafi and delivered lectures on Archaeology of India as well as the scientific conservation taken up in Indian monuments, to various institutions of the German Republic. With his pre-eminence in the fields of Archaeology and conservation the onerous responsibility of Chief editorship of this volume was naturally entrusted to him. Not to rest on his laurels, of earlier archaeological discoveries, some of which are monuments of national importance, now, he recently excavated many important sites of the country, viz: Rakhigarhi and chaitru. He has also multifarious experience of work in museums of the country particularly in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
