World Terrorism Today: US Relations

Ajit Singh (Author)
Synopsis Terrorism has spread like wild fire in the world of today. Many theories have been advanced in regard to terrorism its causes and remedies. Terrorism is mainly based on spreading fear psychosis among the people violence and damage to public property are two main planks of terrorism. Terrorist organizations are funded by various vested interests, which are both national and international. A very bloody war is going on in Afghanistan at the moment on account of a terrorist attack on World Trade Centre in New York on 11 September, 2001. Few words have so insidiously worked their way into our everyday vocabulary. Like ‘Internet’ – another grossly over-used term what has similarly become an indispensable part of the argot of the late twentieth century-most people have a vague idea or impression of what terrorism is, but lack a more precise, concrete and truly explanatory definition of the word. This imprecision has been abetted partly by the modern media, whose efforts to communicate an often complex and convoluted message in the briefest amount of airtime or print space possible have led to the promiscuous labelling of a range of violent acts as ‘terrorism’.
