The strategy for poverty alleviation includes acceleration of rapid economic growth with a focus on employment intensive sector (generation of income and wealth), access to basic minimum services for improving the quality of life of poorest of poor; and direct state intervention in the form of targeted anti-poverty programmes, including provision of subsidized foodgrains.

About the authors

S.B. Verma

Dr. S.B. Verma got through Master degree in Commerce and Economics as well as Bachelor degree in Law from Bihar University, Muzaffarpur. He was awarded Ph.D. degree from Patna University, Patna and also D.Litt degree from Allahabad Univesity, Allahabad. He had been Reader at Nagaland Central University, Kohima, and Lecturer at HNB University, Garhwal. He is faculty member of Commerce, SNS College, Muzaffarpur, Bihar University, Muzaffarpur; Guest faculty at many universities and a National Fellow. He is an Academic Counselor for many educational institutions. Dr. Verma is a member of All India Commerce Association, and All India Accounting Association. He was granted a major project of UGC. He has extensively published research papers in leading academic journals and contributed a number of papers in National and International Seminar-cum-Conferences. He is a renowned author and editor of more than three dozen outstanding research books. He has guided many Ph.D. students. Dr. Verma is a distinguished personality in commerce and management. He has throughout a meritorious career.

Shiw Kumar Jiloka

Dr. Shiw Kumar Jiloka got through Master degree in Commerce (gold Medal). He has been a Reader in Commerce at a lot of renowned/reputed colleges under T.M. Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur. He is a distinguished personality in Commerce. Several papers have been contributed in National Seminar-cum-Conferences and published in leading academic journals and outstanding research books are to his credit. He has authored/edited several research books with Dr. S.B. Verma. He is a member of All India Commerce Association. He has an 'Academic Guide', ICFAI, Hyderabad.

Ram Dayal Singh

Dr. Ram Dayal Singh is Principal, at T.N.B. college, Bhagalpur, present B.N. College, Bhagalpur, T.M. Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur. He is an academician. Several articles have been published in leading academic journals to his credit.
