Synopsis The Kapaliswara Temple of Mylapore is a temple for all seasons. Not a day passes without an important sacred or festive event attracting devotees to this holy place. This unique temple is the still centre, radiating intense faith, towards a wise contemporary urban landscape. The famous Brahmotsavam, the annual festival of this temple, can trace its origins to ancient times. The grandeur, vibrancy, and splendour of this ten day event cannot be equalled. While maintaining a sacred tradition, the festival also renews the temple's power to capture the imagination of devotees from far and near. The Kapaliswara temple has been synonymous with Mylapore from time immemorial. It has sustained the lives of people around it in many unique ways. It is the hub of a distinct culture which is inspired by intense devotion to the Lord Kapaliswara and his consort Karpakambal.
