Synopsis
Although medicinal plants attach a great importance in India where people belonged to different sections regard them as efficacious agents to combat many aliments, well-timed procurement of these materials faces difficulty in many parts of the country as regular cultivation of them is not widely practiced. Relatively small sized plantations may however, be set up by individuals or organizations for the purpose of meetings their own requirements as well as to those of the neighboring people. In such type of herbal gardens, culture of the plants is beyond doubt, to be carried out in a specialized manner, taking care to avoid contact with agents that are liable to cause pollution and thereby, health hazard. Having centred attention on this aspect, the present title has made an attempt to bring forward the principles and management of such gardens including the cultural procedure of some notable common medicinal plants. This apart, the title has also enlisted the principal medicinal properties associated with these plants.
