Synopsis The NGO have assumed significant role in re-construction of the society and their role has been appreciated by the Governments. There are numerous Social organisations working in different fields like disability, child and women welfare, environment, Consumerism, human rights protection etc. But they are doing work in isolation and lack common understanding and coordination. There is no comprehensive and detailed information available in any Government department or any other agency on NGOs working in J&K State. This promoted the author to compile the much needed and ling awaited information and present in the form if a directory. The information presented in the book is bound to be handy and useful for the NGOs and different Government department connected with socio-economic and educational upliftment of the less privileged segments of the society.
