Synopsis Professor Rama Rao Pappu, who has been teaching philosophy in US Universities since the sixties founded the “International Congress of Vedanta” in 1986 at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, Usa. Vedanta Congresses initiated and organized systematically and selflessly by Dr. Pappu during the past nineteen years heave played a very productive and positive role. Enlightening articles on Radhakrishnan, Sri Satya Saibaba and Sunderlal Bahuguna are also included. As a whole covering the concepts of Adhyasa, Saksi, and Jivan-mukti, perspectives on Sruti, Yukti, and Tarka, discussions on Yoga, Tantra and Music and the East-West Parallels have culminated in Sartrean Existentialism and Chinese Dao.

About the authors

P. George Victor

Prof. P. George Victor (born: 1953) Professor of Philosophy, and Founder Director, Centre for Religious Studies, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam has been teaching Sankara Vedanta, and Western Philosophy for the post-graduate students for more than tow decades. He has participated in many seminars in India and abroad. He has organized the ‘First National Seminar on Teaching Philosophy in India’ in association with the editors of Teaching Philosophy journal, USA sponsored by ICPR during March 1998. His major published works include ‘Social Philosophy of Vedanta’, ‘Life and Teachings of Adi Sankaracarya’ and ‘Moral Science’.

V.V.S. Saibaba

Dr. V.V.S. Saibaba, (b-1947) Associate Professor, Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, Andhra University took his Master’s Degree in Philosophy in 1973; Senior P.G. Diploma in Sanskrit in 1976 and Ph.D. Degree in 1985. During 19887 to 1989, he was Reader and Head of the Centre for Mahayana Buddhist Studies at Nagarjuna University, A.P. Dr. Saibaba has authored the book Facets of Buddhist Philosophy: Theravada and Mahayana, and about 40 research papers which have appeared in journals of national and international repute. He has participated in many international and national conferences, seminars.
