Synopsis The recent ecological disasters the worldover confirm the apprehensions, forecast and conclusions of this book. The big ecological migrations of people, ‘world war-style’ from US east coast, submergence of new Orleans, empty concrete jungles of Houstan, ‘Katrina’ and ‘Rita’ becoming wild warn us of tomorrow, in the face of nature’s ‘man-made’ fury. Melting glaciers, disappearing north and south poles, rising sealevels, drowning nations, angry floods and droughts, ranging forest fires, Europe and America suffering their worst heat waves while Arabian desert rocks receive snows: these are not scenes from some sci-fi film but world realities. Forebodings of the future and the follies of our path of development are apparent. The earth is going through the worstever ecological crisis with upheavels having gripped the biosphere. 30% of North Pole lost in the last three decades alone, temperatures touching 45 degree C in France; India, China, Africa etc bearing the brunt of nature’s fury, Banladesh simply drawing, ozone hole growing bigger: nature is taking full revenge for our thoughtless acts, locked with humans in a mortal combat. Nature is warning that we must change. Dialectics of nature and development has reached an explosive point: Very little time is left; we must act immediately. From all accounts, our planet is going to face major and decisive ecological crises/ upheavals within a decade, when we will be fighting a battle for our biological existence, rather than socioeconomic and political. Humans beings at world level must cooperate, adopting holism. Science and scientists have to move into the forefront of humanity. We must immediately to prevent the earth becoming a giant scrap heap.
