Synopsis Bryphyes are important model organism in basic research since they are sound subjects for physiological and biochemical experiments. In the present book entitled â€œBryophyte Flora of Gujarat (India)â€, a total of 67 species which belong to liverworts, hornworts and mosses are described, In addition to the systematics, key for the identification of various species are provided with the ecological zonation of the state. The project was funded by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the book will provide the basic field and the researchers for the availability of the materials. This is the first detailed information on the bryophytes of the Gujarat state.

About the authors

B.L. Chaudhary

Dr. B.L. Chaudhary M.Sc., Ph.D., F.B.S. is Professor of Botany in M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur. He has 29 years of teaching and research experience. Hew is author of 20 books. He has published 40 research articles in National and International journals. He has been member of Board of Studies, Board of Secondary Education, Rajasthan; M.D.S. University, Ajmar; J.N.V. University, Jodhpur and Rajasthan University, Jaipur. He is a recipient of Environment Award of Govt. of Rajasthan (1991). He was member of Rajasthan Hindi Granth Academy, Jaipur (1993-1998) and Chairman Botany section from 2001 till the date. He is member of several academic and professional beodies of the state of Rajasthan and life member of Indian Science Congress Association and Indian Botanical Society. Dr. Chaudhary has been N.S.S. Coordinator, Dean Student Welfare, Chairman University Sports Board and Cultural Coordinator, M.L. Sukhadia University. At present he is member of Board of Management and Chairman Faculty of Science, M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur. He has guided 15 students for Ph.D. degree. He is also Counsellor of Indira Gandhi National Open University, New Delhi. Presently he is working as Dean, University College of Science, M.L. Sukhadia University, Udaipur.

Charu Sanadhya

Dr. Charu Sanadhya, M. Sc. Ph.D. from M.L. Sukhadia University. She has worked on brtophytic flora of Gujarat, including Liverworts, Hornworts and Mosses. Dr. Sanadhya has five years of research experience and has published five research articles in National and International journals.

T.P. Sharma

Tika Prasad Sharma, Ph.D. (born on 3rdJune 1978) is a plant taxonomist, currently working as Secretary, Himalayan Science Society, Gangtok, Sikkim.

He has explored almost all parts of the North-East India and was also collaborator in project "Developing a digital database on bio-resources of North-East India-through a network approach among North-Eastern states". He has been actively engaged in research on Bamboos of North-East India and Medicinal plants of sikkim. So far he has published more than 15 research papaer including on new species and one book on Medicinal Plants of Sikkim.
