About the authors

S. Irudaya Rajan

S. Irudaya Rajan is an Associate Fellow at the centre for Development Studies (CDS), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, India. He is a lead author of the book, India's Elderly: Burden or Challenge? (1999) published by Sage Publications. Another publication, 'An Aging India: Perspectives, Prospects and Policies', a new book edited by Irudaya Rajan and Phoebe Liebing of Andrus Geronntology Centre, University of Southern California, Los Angeles, has just been released by Haworth Press, USA. Currently, he is coordinating two major research projects, Care of the Elderly and Healthy Ageing. He has co-authored/co-edited several books as well as articles in national and international journals.

Phoebe S. Liebig

Phoebe S. Liebing is Associate Professor of Gerontology and Public Administration at the University of Southern California. She is the author of numerous articles in policy-related journals and has co-edited two books. Dr. Liebig is a fellow of both the Gerontological Society on Aging and the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education.
