About the authors

H.S. Shylendra

H.S. Shylendra is a faculty at Institute of Rural Management, Anand (IRMA). He did his Ph.D. in Economics from Institute for Social and Economic Change, Bangalore. His areas of interest are sustainable rural development, rural livelihood systems, micro/rural finance, and governance. Currently, he teaches courses on Rural Development and Micro-Finance for the students of the Post-Graduate Programme at IRMA. He has co-authored two monographs, titled Organising for Rural Development and Sustainable Livelihood in the Context of Growing Occupational Diversification and Rural-urban Linkages. Also, he has some research papers to his credit.

Uma Rani

Uma Rani is a faculty at Gujarat Institute of Development Research (GIDR), Ahmedabad. She holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics from the University of Hyderabad. She specializes in the area of Labour Economics. Currently, she is pursuing research on the employment potential of the informal sector.
