Insights into the Bhagavad Gita

Vimala Thakar (Author)
Synopsis The purpose of the Gita, the epitome of Vedic philosophy, is to enable a person to get acquainted with the outer and appreciate the inner, use the outer paths and systems for the sake of the inner. The purpose of the Gita is to create the awareness of the necessity of growing into the state of yoga, the state of consciousness of yoga. It is a dialogue between two individuals, Arajuna and Krishna, taking place some five thousand years ago, in Dharmakshetra Kurukshetra. The truth, the absolute truth about reality, has to be revealed in the context of an individual’s life and the challenges that the individual has to face. It is not a discourse. IT is the Song of Life, that has taken place between Krishna and Arjuna in the battlefield of Life. Vimala Thakar gave a series of inspired talks on the Bhagavad gita in three separate seminars, during 1992 and 1993 in Italy. To her the Bhagavad gita is very sacred because it deals with the organic wholeness of Life; and the inbuilt complexity of life. It affirms the interplay between the microcosm and macro9cosm and persuades us to remain united with the ultimate reality, not only to intellectual understanding, but through everything that we do, at every moment. Thus, the deepest spiritual insights concerning the Bhagavad Gita are presented, herein, in words full of clarity and compassion.
