Synopsis The book ‘Teaching of English as a Second Language’ is being produced keeping in view the difficulties faced by the bilingual teaches of English. It would also facilitate the new comers who aspire to work as teaches in the Arab Countries in general and Saudi Arabia in particular. The aspirants of gulf in the field of teaching and Education initially don’t have prior knowledge of certain difficulties in English. The present book would also be of great help for those researchers and language masters who have some interest in the investigations in the ‘Bilingual Context: Arabic and English. Moreover, the book is expected to be equally relevant in the context of Urdu and Hindi. The present effort is basically research oriented. The findings are based on day today observation and experimentation besides evolution of some fruitful strategies for the teaching of English in second language situation. Certain factors have been studied that are generally found to be associated with the teaching-learning of English. Aspects like Learning theories, motivation theories, teacher factor, methods of teaching and testing have been nicely put together so that the English teacher may get overall benefit from the book and step forward towards the evolution of some pertinent strategies that can at least minimize the chance of waste in educational sector in general and teaching of English in particular. It has been felt by most researchers that the ‘Mother-tongue influence’ and ‘Zero transfer’ have been the main cause of the difficulties in the learning of English. The present book throws some light on some such issues that support these ideas. However, all the factors of language difficulties should not be attributed to one’s L1. Such issues have been aptly dealt with. The aspects of ‘Phonology’, ‘Lexicon’, ‘Semantics’ and Morphology’ have been presented separately so that one may cope with each of them separately when there are certain situation of this kind. Intakhab Alam Khan

Dr. Intakhab Alam Khan got his M.A. (English) from AMU, Aligarh, B.Ed., M.Ed., M.Phil and Ph.D. (Education) from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. His Fields of special interest include Educational Administration, Language Education and Educational Philosophy Associated in different capacities with several organizations and institutes. Dr. Khan is author of five books published by different publications in India. He has to his credit more than 25 research articles that have appeared in popular journals. Dr. Khan is an associate editor of Global Peace (An International Journal of Peace, Education and Philosophy), published from Meerut, India. Dr. Khan had earlier taught in the Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia. Presently, he is Head of English Department in the College of Health Sciences, Jazan, KSA.
