The Jewelled Throne and Thirty-Two Talking Puppets

K.V. Singh (Editor) K.V. Singh (Compiler)
Synopsis This book is about a king, who was very keen to ascend a divine throne without possessing the requisite qualities, qualifications, mental strength, moral courage and a benevolent heart. Through the medium of talking puppets, the author has interestingly highlighted human weaknesses particularly of a king, who is suppose to be fatherly towards his subjects, while being just in his administration and valorous in his deeds. Besides, highlighting human weaknesses, the author at the same time has attempted to tell desirable mental qualities and other strength of a king’s character. The king as intends to sit on the throne, a puppet fitted to the throne warns the king and narrates a story to point out to him about his one of the weaknesses of his character and also tell him about the rare quality of king Vikram, to whom the jeweled throne originally belonged to. Thus, through the thirty two talking puppets, the author has served the society in a duel manner, firstly, pointing out human weaknesses in a man and secondly, advising him to develop desirable human traits to serve society in a better way. The book is very relevant in modern context, for the reason that the present day politicians and bureaucrats, who are to serve the general public and occupy high position in administration without having requisite qualifications and qualities. They need to take a leaf from these stories. The books makes an interesting reading about a serious subjects ‘Public Administration’.
