Synopsis
This book is an outcome of the author's research work on agricultural investments and rural savings over the recent period 1995-97. It contains papers written during the course of his regular research at the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi. A majority of them are already published; the research findings of unpublished work have also been presented at seminars and academic fora. Bringing them together in one volume would, hopefully, improve their ready access to scholars and policy makers. Absolute decline in public investments in Indian agriculture and deceleration in overall investments in this sector have renewed economists' interest in the subject of determinants of such investments.
