Dr. Mahendra Pratap Rana is presently Director – Buddha Smriti Sansthan (Delhi Office), a research institute with its headquarters in Azamgarh district, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has been a Senior Programme Officer, Indian Social Institute, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Dr. Rana was working as Research Associate, Dr. Ambedkar Foundation, Ministry of Welfare, Government of India, New Delhi. A Law graduate and Post-Graduate in History, Allahabad University, Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. His Doctoral work is on “Liberal Trends in the Nationalist Movements in Egypt and India: A Comparative Study”, Centre for West Asian & African Studies, School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. Dr. Rana has got a wide experience in the area of ‘Human Rights’. During his career, he delivered a series of lectures on “Human Rights” in London, The Netherlands and Geneva. He addressed international Indigenous people’s Conference held in Panama City, panama in May 2001. Dr. Rana has been engaged to push forward Caste discrimination in India in UN agenda so that the issue of Caste discrimination should be treated at par with Racism tending to the direction of its eradication. Caste discrimination in India has been identified as a key issue by the UN after the World Conference Against Racism (WCAR) held in Durban (South Africa) between 31st August of 9th September 2001. Dr. Mahendra Pratap Rana addressed the international communities in University of south Africa in Durban during WCAR. He has been engaged with academic pursuance as well as activism too. His previous publications include “Dalit Adhikar – Manav Adhikar (in Hindi) and “Egypt and Libya: Propaganda and Persuasion for Survival”, besides, he has published articles and research papers in a number of reputed Journals. He has been regularly writing in national dallies on contemporary issues.
