G. Erraiah (Author)
Synopsis The challenging task for mankind in the civilized world is poverty eradication. But only in the second half of the last century world recognized the facts about poverty that social origin and causations are responsible fore individual poverty rather than individual deficiencies of character and his productive skills. Today world also recognized the fact that poverty anywhere is dangerous to property everywhere and efforts and intensified at Local, Regional, National and global level to eradicate it. In 1990’s Indian poor accounts to one-third of the world poor as per world Development Report as well as Human Development Report. This phenomenon cautioned the mankind that no programme for successful fight against poverty in the world is said to be succeeded if poverty is not successfully tackled in India. In these circumstances many International Organizations have been extending liberal assistance to the Indian Government to design and implement numberous programmes to end poverty in India. One of the world’s largest ambitious projects implemented in India in three phases to mitigate poverty is Operation Flood Programme (Dairy Development Project). In this book the author made a sincere attempt to analyse the projects’ impact on agricultural labour in Andhra Pradesh who accounts to 25 per cent of total population and to whom the incidence of poverty is the highest in Andhra Pradesh as well as in India. Hence this study will be immensely helpful to young research scholars, policy makers, academicians and economic planners in various ways.
