School, Community and The State
Synopsis
In recent decades the interface between the school, community and the state has gained sallence as it has direct beaing on the quality of education impaired to children. This is extremely important at the primary school level when foundations are being laid for building up the personality fo the child along with giving him an opportunity to understand his social environment. Community participation in education at this stage has to be assiduously promoted, particularly among the unlettered rural population. This book is a collection of papers bearing on some of these issues. Each of these papers reports the findings of a research project undertaken by the researchers at the Sulabh Institute of Development Studies. Since most of these reports are unpublished, these self contained papers would give the readers, some idea of the problems involved along with the constraints as well as possible remedial measure.
