Synopsis This edition of the 'India Pharma Reference Guide' comes to you when the domestic pharma industry cautiously approaches the post-patent era in 2005 on one hand and a booming export market on the other. The entry of Indian companies to the global arena, coupled with the changing socio-economic and demographic profile of the Indian consumer has already revolutionized the Indian players. Further emergence of organized retailing, healthcare and health insurance sectors would provide the necessary kinetics and opportunities to this dynamic industry. In these times when information is everything, we at Kongposh Publications have made it our endeavour to compile information of all these sectors under one cover and present to our readers a composite reference guide of the Indian Pharma Industry, trade and profession. The process of updation of the information contained in the guide is an ongoing process. This year too we have updated the information contained in it and will continue the process all year round. Divided into various sections, the first section deals with a brief on the past and present scenario of the industry, the effect WTO and TRIPS on the Indian industry - concerns and solutions, pharma organisations and associations, addresses of pharma consultants and analytical laboratories. The second covers the pharma educational scenario in India along with lists of pharma education institutions, pharma books and journals and important websites. The next two sections cover manufacturers of bulk drugs and pharma allied equipment (Pharmaceutical Machinery, Packing Material, Surgical Equipment). In section V we have included the product price lists, including packaging details and composition, of all those companies who have provided us with the same. With a view to facilitate trade between us and our neighbours, manufacturers of Bangladesh and Nepal have been included in section VI, along with names and address of pharmaceutical manufacturers in India. To meet our clients requests to facilitate mailing, we have also provided the names and addresses of Indian manufacturers, on an interactive CD Rom. Each year we try to bring in innovative changes to make this publication the "Best reference book" for the pharmaceutical industry. With more and more pharma companies wanting to reach out directly to the retailers, the list of chemists and druggists in section VII have been converted to the digital format which now comes on the CD ROM only. This has served the dual purpose of a ready mailing list for those who want to reach out to the chemists and druggists, and also makes the guide more handleable in terms of its size. Section VIII is the therapeutic index of the list of products mentioned in section V under the drug and chemical heading according to major ingredients of the products formulae. It also gives you a comprehensive list of approved molecules in India. Section IX is a pharma product index (brand index) of all products manufactured by various companies listed in section V. Section X is the advertisers index.
