In brief, the book is a comprehensive volume focusing on the problem of untouchability in general and the Paleru system in particular reflecting the vivid picture of the scenario of inhuman evil practice prevailing in the Indian society in the form of Paleru system, the traces of which are found even today in the remote villages of Indian society.

Y. Ashok Kumar has been working as Faculty Member in the Department of Sociology, Social Work and I.R.P.M., Acharya Nagarjuna University, for the last one decade after having taken. M.A. Social Work, M.A., Sociology from the same University, M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalayam, Indore. Starting his career in 1996 as Faculty Member. Ever since he joined as Social Work educator, he has been evincing keen interest in the pursuit of the advancement of knowledge, contributing research articles to professional journals and presenting papers in National and International Seminars, Conferences, Workshops and Symposia. As a social work educator, he has been devoting his time and efforts fro teaching, research and extension work and striving for academic excellence in the field of his specialised areas of research and academic interest.
