Indian System of Psychotherapy

Prakash Veereshwar (Author)
Synopsis The present work "Indian System of Psychotherapy," is a pioneer in subject. This is an attempt to introduce the new and blooming psychologists and psychotherapist to our own systems, which are very ancient and are ingrained in our soil and culture. This is precisely what gives it credence over all the systems of psychotherapy in the world. To the Western view it may seem like superposition and witchcraft. But a deeper look at the whole phenomena leads on to wonder at the profound understanding of human nature contained in the rituals and other practices. These rituals and practices are still alive in some famous temples of India like Balaji (Rajasthan) and Dattatreya temple, Gulbarga (Karnataka). Only three main systems have been discussed here viz. Atharva - Veda, Ayurveda and Yoga. This covers the whole ancient Hindu field. Although ancient, these systems are still alive and effective. Hopefully, the present work will prove useful to the teachers and students in India and abroad.
