It examines the law and order problems, organizational structure, relationship between District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, and highlights the role and responsibilities of police in the developmental context. An effort has been made to assess the adequacy of the present personnel system to meet the growing challenges and demands. It further examines the problem of interaction between the police and the citizen on the basis of an empirical study.
