Synopsis The interlinked problems of family planning and family welfare are some of the most urgent concerns of the third World, specially on the eve of the third millennium. Increasing population and rising urbanization have led to the emergence of slums in all cities, leading to a deterioration in the quality of life. In this book, the author analyses the dynamics of planned parenthood in slum areas within the framework of certain sociological parameters. Her approach is both descriptive and diagnostic. She not only perceives the stumbling blocks but also suggests pragmatic methods of clipping their dimensions. Unless the rise in numbers if halted, the ecological disequilibrium will continue to grow wider and all our developmental plans will have only a “trickle down” effect.
