Synopsis In India, contrary to many other nations, we have not borrowed education from West. Instead, we have our own traditions and a glorious history in this area, since, Vedic times. India has been bestowed upon with the blessing of knowledge. In fact, we had a perfect education system in Vedic age and Buddhist period and after the renaissance of the Brahmanism this system was further polished and enriched by Arabs, Turks and Mughals, who arrive in this land as conquerors but settled here for ever. Later, came the British who reformed the traditional system and founded a modern education system in India. Following independence, the Government of India rectified the faults and promoted the system to new heights. As a result, the existing education system in India is perfect and can match any system in the developed world. This work covers the whole education system in the historical perspective, in order to enlighten the reader on the long journey and various phases, the craven of education in India has passed through. Hopefully, this book would suffice the need and be acknowledged by all concerned.
