The Urban Political Elite in Tribal India

G C Nayak (Author)
Synopsis The Urban Political Elite in Tribal India is primarily based on a representative research study conducted in the Phulbani district of Orissa. This typical work is otherwise significant, because Phulbani is not only a predominant tribal area but also one of the most backward districts of India. The book offers a rigorous study on the Urban Political Elite-the councilors, about their background, nature, Orientation, Political awareness, Political Involvement and Leadership process, political ideals and aspirations, approach to and levels of development, the hindrances faced by them, the nature of their political societies with their degree of continuity and change on a comparative basis. It reveals several novel and interesting findings, besides making some sound and progressive forecasts. The book is useful for scholars, the planers, the policy-makers and all others concerned.
