Synopsis The role of civil services in the era of globalisation and liberalization is being critically assessed in the different parts of the world. Civil services are the vital part of the governance but the delivery of services to masses has been below the expectations. Hence, the search for new forms and alternative institutions is going on in the different parts of the world. However, the masses are not being properly served by either institutions. The gap between public and private sector in delivering the services is increasing and the private sector is becoming the first choice of service delivery. In this book, an attempt is made to assess the various attempts to reform the civil services mainly in great Britain, Japan and United States of America etc. The book is to focus upon the civil service reforms and alternative institutions.
