Pressure on land and forest resources caused by land alienation and forest policies resulted in serious problems to the tribals leading to misery and unrest. After independence, further changes have taken place under the impact of governmental policies and programmes. In the present book an attempt is made to present the transformation in tribal areas as viewed through various available works.
