Sudhir Kumar Karan

Sudhir Kumar Karan (b. 1923), obtained his MA degree in Modern Language and Literature from the Universityof calcutta and received his Ph. D. degree from the same University. As an educationist throughout his life he remained connected with various colleges being placed as Principles of Surividyasagar College , Birbhum (W. Bengal) and Balurghat College, South Dinajpur (W. Bengal) before he joined the Universtiy of Burdwan and then the Asiatic Society as Senior Research Fellow in Linguistics. Formerly, suniti Kumar Chatterjee Senior Research Felow in Linguistics, Asiatic Society, Kolkata, and formerly Reader, Burdwan University, he is a leading linguist, folklorists as well as an Indologist. His published books are more than twently and his papers number more thank two hundred, some of which are going to be published by the University of Burdwan very soon. His book and papers mainly cover the fields of Indian language and literature, history, philosophy and folklore. He was honoured by the West Bengal Rajya Academy Prize in 1995 for his commendable work in the fields of folklore.
