A unique and rare feature is the rapid economic and social j development of the Harilans with the concurrent sleep decline in their fertility and mortality to par with the developed communities. The successful experience in total development of this village will be a feasible model for future development of Indians village.

K. Mahadevan

Prof. Kuttan Mahadevan is currently Principal, Sri Venkateswara University and Chairman, Department of Pupulation Studies. He is a specialist on Population Policy, Social Development, Methodology, Ecology, Gerontology and communication. He is author of 30 books. He is the recipient of several awards both nationally and internationally for his original and innovative research work.

A. Aiyappan

Prof. A. Alyappan, is a well-known and pioneeringk Anthropologist in India and abroad. He was Director of Madras Museum, Professor of anthropology in utkal and Andhra universities and Vice-Chancellor of Kerla University. His writings on village studies, ethnography of tribals, archaeology and culture physical anthropology etc., have contributed valuable body of knowledge for our understanding of society culture in India
