About the author

Shri Nath Sahai

Dr. Shrinath sahai is a University Librarian currently at the University of Judhpur, Rajasthan (Indian), since 1976, were he holds the rank and status of University Professor. Before this assignment, he ws at the Bihar University Library, Muzaffarpur. He has worked also as Documentation Officer at the research library of the A.N. Sinha institute of Social Studies, Patna. He has lectured, for some time, at the library schools in U.P. and Bihar. Educated at allahabad, Varanasi, and Patna, Dr Sahai was awarded Ph. D.Degree in 1969 for the empirical research done by him on the subject ‘Library and the community’. His thesis, already published (1973) has been adjudged as “a remarkable and praiseworthy contribution to library literature’. He has also worked as Project Director of several project sanctioned by the Social Science Documentation Centre (ICSSR), New Delhi. Eminently known for his extensive writing, Dr. Sahai has contributed widely on different aspects of library science and librarianship both in English and Hindi languages. His research papers have been published in the standard professional and academic journals in India and abroad. Author of seven books, Dr. Sahai has also done creative writing. His literary pieces of stories, poems, esssys and articles have been published in the leading literary journals and national dailies. He has also given talks on all India Radio. He received the Utttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan Award (F Government)1976-77 for his book “Pustakalaya Avam Samudaya”. He is life member of ILA and also member of IASLIC and IAAL.
