Synopsis The book conceptualizes complex problem of ethnic tension in terms of a system, dynamic structure of the phenomenon is elucidated. Explanation, predictive inferences and problems-solving measures are seen to emerge as inter-related facets of an unified analysis. Three major situations of ethnic tension in Indian society viz. Schismatic Turbulence in Assam. The Sikh Extremism in Punjab and Hindu-Muslim Communal Conflict are analysed in detail. Isomorphism of these widely differing situations and the applicability of the analytic framework to the crises in Sri Lanka and Lebanon are also demonstrated. This study may be viewed ask combining the theoretical of a complex socio-political phenomenon with the derivation of results for practical application toward problem-solving. The study also brings out the ‘missing link’ of ineluctable spiritual factor ink the health of social systems.
