Synopsis The present publication introduces the student of sociology to the main concepts and theories in a lucid and interesting style. The textbook will enable him to understand the process of social change and the way it affects development and progress. Beginning with the well-known concepts and theories, it guides him through the geographical, demographical, biological, technological and cultural factors in social change. It analyses the processes of change and also identifies the obstacles to it. As a basic book on sociology, it will be useful for not only students and teachers but also to all those interested in the development process and the changes it implies in terms of human value, perceptions and goals.
