Synopsis Awareness about health and fitness is greater now than ever before, and the means to protect them are available everywhere. Healthcare services are one of the essential foundation and support for every health system. These are services given to the needy ones, wherever and whenever necessary, regardless of the service level, specialty area, or service location. The roles and functions of health workers have been streamlined, and activities to increase their capacity are continuing through in-service training, and strengthening of the training institutions. There are also a number of activities to strengthen partnerships with other sectors, non-governmental organization and the community. A lot still remains to be done, however, and most of it hinges upon the proficiency of the health workers, who is critical to increasing the coverage of health services, thereby increasing access to quality health service. The family healthcare strategies should be known by today’s health workers are elaboratively discussed in the present volume. It is hoped that the use of this book will enhance the reader’s knowledge about the most important health problems, and the cost-effective interventions to tackle these problems. It will definitely help to improve the ability of health workers to promote health and prevent illness, including proper case management and referrals, and thereby contribute to the attainment of the ultimate goal of “health for all”.
