Synopsis The Management of crop diseases has become important throughout the world. Various methods have been advocated to manage viral, bacterial, fungal and nematode diseases of various crops. About the authors

C. Manoharachary

Professor C. Manoharachary, M.Sc., Ph.D. (Osmania), D.Sc. (Mysore), has an experience of 34 years of teaching and research. He has guided 44 Ph.D.s, published 400 research papers in national and international journals, besides authoring and editing 16 books. He has organised 12 national seminars and one international conference. He has served as Head, Department of Botany and Chairman, Board of Studies in Botany; Principal, University College of Science, and presently the Coordinator, UGC-SAP II-Botany, Osmania University; and Dean, UGC and Developmental affairs. He held the position of sectional president of Botany, Indian Science Congress; President, Indian Phytopathological Society and Vice-President, Indian Botanical Society. He has received several national and state awards including UGC Hari Om J.C. Bose Award, Birbal Sahani Medal, A.P. Scientist Award and best teacher award. He had his post-doctoral work at UK,USA, Germany and Canada.

K.V.B.R. Tilak

Dr. K.V.B.R. Tilak, formarly Professor and Head, Division of Microbiology, Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, Ph.D. IIT, Kharagpur, published over 172 research papers related to soil and plant microbiology, recipient of Best Teacher Award of IARI, New Delhi, President, Association of Microbiologists of India, Fellow of National Academy of Sciences, Fellow of National Academy of Agricultural Sciences, First Prize of TERI, recipient of Alexander Von Humboldt Foundation Fellowship, German Academic Exchange Fellowship, Chairperson of various commiteeies organised by ICAR, DST, DBT, UGC, ASRB etc.

C.D. Mayee

Dr. Charudatta Digambarrao Mayee, currently the Agriculture Commissioner, Government of India, Ministry of Agriculture, New Delhi, has long standing experience in the field of education, research and technology transfer. Born on July 15, 1946 in a village dominantly placed in the core dryland agriculture of Maharashtra. Dr. Mayee received the agriculture education in State and obtained Ph.D. from IARI, New Delhi with distinction. Served the diversified institutions like CRRI, Cuttack, Orissa; PAU, Ludhiana and Kapurthala; MAU, Parbhani and Aurangabad; Dr. PDKV, Akola and became Vice Chancellor. Subsequent opportunities brought him closer to his heart, the 'Research on Cotton' as Director, CICR, Nagpur and Agriculture Commissioner, New Delhi as Mission Director, TMC. Dr. Mayee is an unique mix of teaching, reserch and extension. As visiting Professor in Germany, he not only taught in India but also outside. published more than 200 scientific papers and had the academic distinction of President of IPS, New Dlhi. Recipient of several awards, Dr. Mayee has Plant Pathology as his life companion.

D.S. Mukadam

Professor D.S. Mukadam, Former Head, Department of Botany, Dr, B.A. Marathwada University, Aurangabad. Presently he is Professor of Plant Pathology in the same University. He has published more than 80 papers and 3 books, guided 16 Ph. D.s, he has established seed pathology and technology laboratory, visited USA. He was President and Councillor of Indian Phytopathological Society, Fellow of IPS, New Delhi. Organised and participated in many national and international conferences.

Jayshree Deshpande

Dr. Jayshree Deshpande, Head, P.G. Department of Environment Science, S.B.E.S. College of Science, Aurangabad. She has published more than 25 research papers and guided 3 Ph.D.s. attended 30 national and international conferences, published 5 books and 5 research projects, life member of NEERI, IPS, SMPP and Councillor of IPS (WZ), Visited Philadephia, USA as a special guest, presently she is a member of master trainer of International Globe Training Programme on Environment Science.
