About the author

Amjad Ali

Amjad Ali (Ph.D. in Library and Information Science) started his career from Doordarshan (India Television) in 1982. He was appointed founding Librarian of the prestigious Mass Communication Research Centre at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi in 1983, where he served as In-charge, Library Resource and Documentation Unit for over a decade. He was also appointed Academic Counselor with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) for Bachelor of Library and Information Science course. In 1993, he joined Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh as Deputy Librarian, where he still continues. In the meanwhile, he has been on a foreign assignment as Information Specialist with King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Amjad Ali has to his credit, four books and over 30 research papers on application of IT in academic libraries, which have been published in leading journals of Library and Information Science. Presently, he is a Council Member of the Indian Library Association and also the Chairman of its Sectional Committee on Oriental Libraries.
