Synopsis This comprehensive survey entitled “Great Thinkers of the world” has been classified into three Volumes: vol. I “Great Philosopher”, Vol. II “Great Political thinkers” and Vol. III “Great Educators. The Volume I includes critical estimate of the lives and works of “Great Philosophers” of the World some of which were founders of some great religions. Including only the most significant Western and Eastern Thinkers and Religious Savants, this book must find a place on the desk of all serious students of philosophy and religion, all aspirants after higher knowledge, all seriously religious men throughout the world. The Volume II entitled “Great Political thinkers”. In our survey of political thinkers all over the world, the criterion of greatness has been both innovative ideas and the width of impact on both theory and practice of politics, Starting with Plato and Aristotle, the founding fathers of political thought, their works includes Thomas Qquinas, Marsiglio of Padua, Niccolo Machiavelli, Jean Bodin, Thomas Hobbes, John Locke, Baron De-Montesquieu and Jean Jacques Rousseau. It ends with chapters on torch bearers of contemporary political thought and leaders of political thinking in the world: J.S. Mill, T.H. Green, Karl Marx, Mao-Tse-Tung, Harold J. Laski and M.K. Gandhi. The Volume III selection of “Great Educators” for this book has been made both from West and East. Among Western educationists, great thinkers have been drawn not only from European countries but also from U.S.A. Besides, thinkers have been drawn from the ancient, medieval and modern times. Thus, this volume includes educational thought of Plato; Aristotle; Ignatious Loyola; John amos Comenius; Hohn Jacques Rousseau; John Friedrich Herbart; Friedrich August Froebel; Maria Montessori and John Dewey from the West . Among educators from the East, those thinkers have been selected who were not only deeply ingrained in Indian Educational thought but also had first hand knowledge of Western educational thought and system. This has made their educational thought enlightening to educationists all over the world.
