Synopsis Human Rights is a relatively new phenomenon in the context of the world history. It was too late. may be a hundred odd years back, when the world community acknowledged the dignity of human being and recognised the status of an individual. Soon, a philosophical idea and a social approach automatically evolved into a powerful social and political term and a hard reality, which Human Rights is today. Earlier it was a concept, now, its a movement. As a result, the issue of Human Rights is uppermost in ideology and functioning of modern polity. Human Rights movement is spread all over the globe and the fight for making them a part of life in letter and spirit is continued. Each and every concerned citizen, anywhere on the earth is to be partial on the side of the weaker and downtrodden in the ongoing war against evils like inequality, oppression, tyranny and apartheid. No sane person can be impartial in an uneven society. Needless to say that the situation is better in the developed West, worse in developing Third World and worst in under developed countries of Asia, Africa and Latin America. In India, Human Rights movement is not very old but is already mature and strong enough. the academics, social activists and all those responsible citizen who are awakened, owe to contribute their due share, play their appropriate role and show solidarity, at the least for those suffering on any account, in any section of the society. There already are books, in good numbers, on Human Rights, still there is room for a comprehensive and exhaustive work. Hence, this multi-volume set to fill the bill.
