Snehlata Chandra (Author)
Synopsis

This book could very well serve as a reference book for all types of NGOs in India, whether voluntary organizations, social service societies or other development organizations; social welfare organizations; educational institutions or trusts; charitable or religious trusts; health organizations; non-profit companies; technical and vocational institutions; government to government bilateral programmes; etc. It provides the readers with guidelines on aspects related to not only administration or governance but also about NGOs’ financial and technical management. For all kinds of non-profit organizations, this book serves as a working and referral guideline, whether they are involved in charity and welfare work or in the development of communities and in the work related to social transformation. In nutshell, this book provides information on registration of different kinds of NGOs; their working, reporting, monitoring and assessment aspects; their compliance with major legal obligations; their management of funds and adherence to requirements by funding agencies; accounting and financial management skills; their annual reports and auditing of accounts; their management of foreign funds, etc., thus serving the role of a reference manual on the said subject of NGO very well. The book can be used as a ready reckoner/reference material for enlightening on the topics off concern for an NGO. The checklists, forms, specimens and formats can be used to a great extent. This guide book should be, nonetheless, not misunderstood as a legal document, thus advising to consult the concerned legal/financial/other experts, as and when required, for the best form of incorporation of such items. The editor is sure that this source book will go a long way in facilitating the working of NGOs in India and understanding of the functioning of Indian NGOs abroad.
