Flora of Himachal Pradesh [Asteraceae]: Taxonomy, Economic and Ethnobotanical Uses
Asteraceae is one of the largest flowering plant family, with 30,000 species belonging to 1100 genera, constituting ca 10% of total flowering plants. It is distributed throughout the World from arctic waste to alpine meadows and from arid regions to rain forests. It is one of the dominant families of Indian flora not only by number, but also by its abundance. This book comprehensively deals with the Asteraceous Flora found in twelve district of Himachal Pradesh. This book contains 5 chapters which provide an introduction and selected references in chronological order on the flowering plants of Himachal Pradesh with particular reference to family Asteraceae. Chapter 2 contains detailed methodology used, places of collection with Color photographs and list of Asteraceous plants of Himachal Pradesh. In Chapter 3 taxonomic description, economic and ethnobotanical Uses of 174 taxa belonging to 165 species spread over 82 genera are well documented with 170 original color photographs. The chapters 4 and 5 deals with epilogue and bibliography respectively.
