This documentation of India's Parliamentary elections, providing a large amount of electoral data & statistics since 1952, was first published in the year 2004 when India went to elect the 14th Lok Sabha, the lower house of its Parliament. The current study is 5th in a row and has completed 20 years of its journey. This two-volume study of the election of 2024 provides a mine of information on all 18 Lok Sabha elections held so far. Sourced from several official authentic platforms, data has been extensively analysed, adding immense value to the study. Holding elections in the world's seventh-largest nation by area is a complex task and represents a convergence of traditional political campaigning and cutting-edge technology, with Al, social media, and the internet playing pivotal roles in shaping electoral dynamics. This study captures the entire complex electoral process and the data generated by this massive and mammoth exercise. The study has increasingly been recognized as one of the primary sources of data on electoral studies and has lately emerged as a vital reference source for social scientists, policymakers, researchers, and psephologists. It is hoped that in the coming years, the study will increase its reach and be found as an essential source of election data, both in India and abroad. About the Author Currently an independent researcher and consultant, Dr. Tariq Ashraf studied Political Science at Hindu College, University of Delhi for Master degree along with a doctorate in Library & Information Science. During last 36 years, Dr. Ashraf has been associated, at increasingly responsible positions, with India's top institutions viz., Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Centre For Policy Research, New Delhi, University of Delhi South Campus, Indian Institute of Management Lucknow, and Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. He has been a member of the Academic Council and Court of Jamia Millia Islamia during 2019 to 2023. A prolific writer, Dr. Ashraf has contributed nearly 40 papers to various national & international journals and edited /authored 17 publications. He is also associated with several learned and professional societies as an expert member and has received several honours and awards. Dr. Ashraf is twice winner of an international paper contest held by the Association for Information Science and Technology, USA, in the years 2003 & 2009 and has travelled to the USA, Japan, UAE, Singapore, Hong Kong, Philippines, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Taiwan, Poland, and Malaysia on professional grants and invitations. He is also a columnist with a leading daily, writing on different social issues from time to time.
