Synopsis Following the international wave of privatisation, India too has embarked on the experiment of disinvestment/privatisation of its public sector entities. India’s efforts, though tentative and halting, would have to be viewed in the historical perspective of public sector dominance in its core and strategic activities and creation of infrastructure facilities. This book deals with the origin of the public sector, its present status and the attempts at public sector reform.
